- Having a criminal record will not automatically prevent someone from working with us. Each case will be considered on its own merits.
2. Roles Requiring Enhanced Checks
- Due to the nature of our work, many of our roles involve providing care to vulnerable adults.
- For these positions, applicants will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- This ensures we protect the people we care for while also being fair to applicants.
3. How We Consider Convictions
When assessing disclosed information, we take into account:
- Whether the conviction is relevant to the role.
- The seriousness of the offence and its circumstances.
- How much time has passed since the offence.
- Whether the applicant has demonstrated positive change and rehabilitation.
- The nature of the role being applied for, including level of supervision and responsibility.
4. Confidentiality
- All information regarding criminal records is handled with the utmost confidentiality and in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and GDPR requirements.
- Only staff involved in the recruitment process will have access to this information.
